Missouri's microbusiness program was intended to lower barriers to entry and create opportunities for small operators. The numbers tell a different story: more than half of all micro dispensary license numbers issued have been revoked, surrendered, or denied. Only 2 micro dispensaries in the entire state are actually operating. The micro wholesale sector is performing even worse at 9% activation. By comparison, standard dispensaries have a 93%+ approval rate — suggesting the problem is specific to the microbusiness model, not the market as a whole.
